Independent Ceiling System
Our independent Ceiling system is the most popular and best performing system
for airborne and impact noise reduction. If noise is your problem from above
this is the most effective ceiling solution for you.
Installation
- We construct a new timer ceiling frame completely detached from the current
ceiling. With a minimum of 25mm space / gap between the frame and current
ceiling.
- Compact fit RW3 100mm thick Rockwool in between the cavities of the new
timber frame.
- Fit acoustic resilient bars to joist to minimise contact of the new frame
- Fix 1st layer of 19mm acoustic sound plank to resilient bars.
- All joints, gaps and perimeter sealed with acoustic mastic sealant.
- Fix 2nd layer of 12.5mm acoustic sound shield plasterboards as final layer
to resilient bar.
- All lights will be refitted as per original fitting.
- Ceiling ready for plastering. (See upgrades and extra section for
more information)
Most common installation
Were excessive airborne and impact noises are found .i.e loud TV’s,
music, shouting, heavy footsteps and slamming doors
Space impact
6 ½ inch to 8 inch ceiling height loss (depending on additional upgrades)
or
130mm to 180mm ceiling height loss (depending on additional upgrades)
Improvement in sound
55% to 70% improvement in noise reduction
or
23db+ to 28db+ improvement in noise reduction
Weight per kg/m² addition
Upgrades and Extras available for this system
Rockwool upgrade to RW5 – This would increase the density and weight
of the Rockwool from RW3 - 60kg/m³ to RW5 – 100kg/m³. Around
10% to 15% improvement in noise reduction
Barrier Matting extra – Fit a 5kg/m² or 10kg/m² barrier matt
to new frame after wool installation, this will increase the density and weight
applied to the area. Around 10% to 15% improvement in noise reduction
Plastering – We have independent plastering contractors we use and we
guarantee their work.
Acoustic Resilient Bar Ceiling System
Our acoustic resilient bar system is ideal where space is an issue. The resilient
bar system is very popular for airborne and impact noise reduction where there
are space constraints
Installation
- Remove current ceiling or install new 50mm Batons to current area ceiling
- If ceiling removed - Compact fit RW3 100mm thick Rockwool in between the
existing joist or
- When new batons are installed, Compact fit RW3 50mm thick Rockwool in between
the batons
- Fit acoustic resilient bars to joist to minimise contact of the new / existing
ceiling
- Fix 1st layer of 19mm acoustic sound plank to resilient bars.
- All joints, gaps and perimeter sealed with acoustic mastic sealant.
- Fix 2nd layer of 12.5mm acoustic sound shield plasterboards as final layer
to resilient bar.
- All lights will be refitted as per original fitting.
- Ceiling ready for plastering. (See upgrades and extra section for
more information)
Most common installation
Were airborne and impact noises are found with space constraints.i.e loud
TV’s, music, shouting, heavy footsteps from stairway walls and slamming
doors, light “switching” noises, loud talking.
Space impact
Original Ceiling Removed
1 inch to 2 inch ceiling height required for installation (depending on additional
upgrades)
or
25mm to 50mm ceiling height required (depending on additional upgrades)
New baton installed
2 inch to 3½ inch ceiling height loss for installation (depending on
additional upgrades)
or
50mm to 75mm ceiling height loss (depending on additional upgrades)
Improvement in sound
Original Ceiling Removed
40% to 60% improvement in noise reduction
or
16db+ to 26db+ improvement in noise reduction
New baton installed
40% to 50% improvement in noise reduction
or
16db+ to 26db+ improvement in noise reduction

Acoustic Hanger Ceiling Option
The Hanger system is very popular and the least intrusive system to install,
particularly where there are original lath and plaster ceiling. The hanger works
similar to the acoustic resilient bar, it is designed with an additional non
compressible foam rubber element within the hanger.
Installation
- Allocate existing joist through existing ceiling
- Acoustic hangers are them fitted along existing joist
- 50mm batons are the fitted to the acoustic hangers
- Compact fit RW3 50mm thick Rockwool in between the batons
- Fix 1st layer of 19mm acoustic sound plank to batons.
- All joints, gaps and perimeter sealed with acoustic mastic sealant.
- Fix 2nd layer of 12.5mm acoustic sound shield plasterboards as final layer
to batons.
- All lights will be refitted as per original fitting.
- Ceiling ready for plastering. (See upgrades and extra section for
more information)
